Miller – Your search for information about the B-17 bomber crew that was shot down over Germany caused my attention to go into high gear.  My sister Jessie (1925-1987) dated Bob Miller briefly.  Jessie graduated from NHS in 1943, so Bob must have been a little older than she was.  I can recall Bob telling about his war experiences.  The story I recall is about the time that they bailed out of the B-17 over Germany, and while Bob was descending in his parachute, when a Messerschmidt fighter hit his parachute canopy and spilled the air out, causing him to free-fall.  The parachute canopy re-inflated just before he hit the ground, saving his life. – John Voss 533 Rebecca Drive, St. Charles MO 63301

I was surprised and pleased to read in the January Musings about Bob Miller and his WWII experiences.  His family lived only three doors from my family prior to the War and after.  I well remember Bob, his older brother, and his Edwina, who married a man named Walker (no relation to our family).  I loved going to visit Bob’s mother when I was a teenager, and helping her dust and clean her huge collection of ceramic dogs.  I remember Bob as a tall thin young man with black wavy hair and a great sense of humor.  I am sorry to hear he is deceased. Keep up the great job you all do there at home. – Wanda Walker Yoast, Box 1078, Lytle TX 78052.

I ordered a book called The Story of Solomon and Lydia Smith Miller and their Children, by Newton L. and Virginia S. Poling.  I was told there was info on Jonathan Miller Click in that book.  There isn’t much, but there is a page or two on Samuel Click and about Nevada MO!
Samuel and Susanna Click owned a farm northeast of Nevada, where a large barn was also used for love feasts of the church.  This barn was still standing in 1987, but the town was gradually getting close to it.  The Clicks gave land for a cemetery and a church building.  In 1886 the church decided to build on this site, and it was completed and dedicated in January 1893.  The church members were scattered all over the county and this made the work difficult to carry on.  In 1906 the church building was moved to North Lynn Street in Nevada. – Robin Poeschek, robinpoeschek@shaw.ca
